MEETING NOTES

People for Peace, Justice, and Healing
March 9, 2013

People for Peace, Justice, and Healing met on March 9, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the Antique Sandwich Company in Ruston.  Present for check-in were Sallie, Karen H., Carl, Colleen, Sol, Werner, Mark, Sheila, and Rob (arrived late due to bike accident yesterday).

AGENDA

1. ANTI-DEATH PENALTY LOBBYING IN OLYMPIA ON WEDNESDAY (Colleen and Carl)
Next year may be the year Washington State abolishes the death penalty. Lobbying in conjunction with the legislative hearing was effective. Cost issues seem to be persuasive to those on the right.

2. COMMEMORATION OF THE 10th ANNIVERSARY OF RACHEL CORRIE'S DEATH ON SAT., MAR. 16 (Sallie)
On Saturday, March 19, there will be an event commemorating Rachel Corrie's death in Olympia's Sylvester Park (Capitol Way S. & Legion Way SW, Olympia, WA, 98501). PJH may end early on Sat., Mar. 19, to facilitate attendance.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

1. "Beast of the Southern Wild" is extraordinary; Sallie puts it in the top ten, maybe top five cinematic experiences of her life.

2. SABINO CANYON (Sallie and Carl). Has great hiking in the Tucson area.

Respectfully submitted,
Mark
