MEETING NOTES

People for Peace, Justice, and Healing
August 18, 2012

People for Peace, Justice, and Healing met on August 18, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Antique Sandwich Company in Ruston.  Present for check-in were Sallie, Susan H. Rob, Sheila, Mark, Colleen, Louisa, and Carl.

AGENDA

1. MARRIAGE EQUALITY FUNDRAISER (Colleen and Carl)
PPJH's fundraiser house party at Colleen's will have a goal of $5000. Finger food is needed. There will be a final organizational meeting at Marty Webb's house on Tues, Aug. 28 (1215 N. K St., Tacoma) at 7:00 p.m. The fundraiser itself will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wed., Sept. 5.  Tacoma. City Councilmember Ryan Mello will speak.  A flier is almost ready.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. STANDING ON BOTH FEET (Carl).
Cathy Tashiro's new book, Standing on Both Feet: Voices of Older Mixed-Race Americans (Paradigm, 2012), is out; a paperback edition will be available in the fall.

2. NEED HELP SETTING UP INSTALLATION (Sallie).
An installation will be set up in Marine Park on Ruston Way by Jewish Voices for Peace on the morning of Sat., Sept. 1, around 7:00 a.m. The installation will be up for two days. Contact Sallie for more information.

3. TALK ME OFF THE LEDGE (Louisa).
Louisa will be going to the Democratic National Convention and will be blogging about her experiences at teeteringontheledge.blogspot.com/. She welcomes comments but don't worry if there's not an immediate reply as she will not have a consistent internet connection during the trip.
