MEETING NOTES

People for Peace, Justice, and Healing
August 30, 2014

People for Peace, Justice, and Healing met on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the Antique Sandwich Company in Ruston.  Present for check-in were Sallie, Rob, Sheila, Mark, Colleen, Carl, Sonja, Susan D., and Sol.

AGENDA

1. WAKE-UP COMMUNITY (Sol)
Thich Nat Hanh asks to consider funds for Palestininan youth to attend two-week program at Plum Village. Costs $700 per individual to attend. Will send out information to PJHers. Peace-building activities for 18-35 year olds who have embraced the Plum Village experience -- some will later become monks or nuns.

2. PORT DEBRIEF (Sallie)
Action was "a mixed bag." Believes unloading was delayed to some extent. This shipping company comes into West Coast ports several times a month. This may be the beginning of a movement. Believes relationship with ILWU leadership necessary for a successful movement.

Respectfully submitted,
Mark
