MEETING NOTES
People for Peace, Justice, and Healing
September 8, 2018
People for Peace, Justice, and Healing met on Saturday, September 8, at 10:00 a.m. at the Antique Sandwich Company in Ruston. Present for check-in was Burk, who through no fault of his own hadn't heard that the meeting was cancelled. This led him to compose a poem:
AN ANTIQUE AT THE ANTIQUE
By Burk Ketcham
They say you have to be 100
to be an antique
Well I am getting close
so I am almost an antique
It's a Saturday morning
Peace, Justice and Waiting
is supposed to meet
at the Antique Sandwich Shoppe
Antique Burk arrives at 10:00 AM
buys his scone and coffee
Sits and waits and waits and waits
His mood not very peaceful
Around 10:15 an antique employee
approaches his lonely table
and with a pleasant smile says
Sally called, "no meeting today"
How about them cookies
But thanks anyway Sally,
No wonder they gave you
the Tacoma peace award
Ten minutes later I collect
my empty cup and plate
head for the door
and the #11 bus home
Old Antiques never die
They just wait and wait and wait
