People for Peace, Justice and Healing met October 17 at 10 a.m. at Associated Ministries. Present for check-in: Rob, Mark, Sol, and Lamont.

AGENDA

1. Ray McGovern (Mark)
The 27-year CIA veteran and prominent critic of U.S. foreign policy will speak at UW Tacoma (Carwein Auditorium) on Sun., Nov. 15, at 7:00 p.m.

2. Madre (Sol)
Madre is an organization works directly with women to build economies. In the West Bank they have a program to place a midwife in every village, so women having medical emergencies do not die at checkpoints.

3. Malalai Joya (Mark)
Coming to the Pacific Northwest on Nov. 11

4. PPJH: A retrospective (group)
At Lamont's request, reviewed the group's history and mission, and discussed its posture in the present political moment. Discussion of attitudes toward President Obama.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

UFPPC's book discussion group, Digging Deeper, will discuss Tanya Reinhart's Israel/Palestine: How to End the War of 1948, 2nd ed. (2005), on Mon., Oct. 19, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Mandolin Cafe, 3923 S. 12th St., Tacoma, WA.
