People for Peace, Justice and Healing met on October 18, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Associated Ministries in Tacoma, WA. Present for check-in: Kyle, Sheila, Jan, Rob, Terry, Mark, and Colleen. Phone check-in: Sallie called from Colorado, where she's working on the Obama campaign. She reports gorgeous weather. Says she has "no idea" whether Obama will win the state; the campaign needs help getting out the vote.

Kyle read Goodnight Bush: An Unauthorized Parody by Erich Origen and Gan Golan (New York & London: Little Brown, 2008). Goodnight Moon was published in 1947, when George W. Bush was one year old, and was one of his favorite childhood books.

2. ANTONIA JUHASZ DEBRIEF (Colleen, Mark, Rob, and Terry)
Discussed Antonia Juhasz's Oct. 17 at King's Books about her new book, The Tyranny of Oil.

On two more Mondays, Oct. 20 & 27, Antonia Juhasz's new book, The Tyranny of Oil (William Morrow, October 2008), will be examined at United for Peace of Pierce County's Monday evening book discussion group.  --  Digging Deeper meets Mondays from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Mandolin Café (3923 S. 12th St., Tacoma). --  Antonia Juhasz will also speak at Pacific Lutheran University (Xavier 201, Philip A. Nordquist Lecture Hall) at 7:30 p.m. on Sat., Oct.18.
