MEETING NOTES FOR PEOPLE FOR PEACE, JUSTICE, AND HEALING

People for Peace, Justice, and Healing
November 1, 2008

People for Peace, Justice and Healing met at 10 a.m. at Associated Ministries on November 1, 2008. Present were Mark, Terry, Nancy, Karen, Karen, Rob, Colleen. We became embroiled in a general (and very lively) discussion and didn't have a formal check-in. Basic subject: The Coming Election and Other Weird Stuff. Rob also reported on a recent conference on the environment sponsored by Physicians for Social Responsibility.

AGENDA

Karen asked PPJH to co-sponsor a PowerPoint presentation at King's Books -- date to be announced -- for Tacoma LeSotho Connection. Several TLC board members have just returned from LeSotho and are interested in sharing their pictures and experience. LeSotho is a small, high mountain country, entirely enclosed within the borders of South Africa. TLC sponsors scholarships for young scholars and is interested in building an AIDS clinic at Mohale's Hoek. The AIDS rate in the country is something like 20 percent. There are many young, orphaned children in the country. Members present agreed to co-sponsor a King's Books event.

Respectfully submitted,
Karen
